Language fighter Abdul Jabar Library and Memorial Museum:
Abdul Jabar was born in 26 Ashwin (1919) of 1326 at Panchua village under Gafargaon police station of Mymensingh district. After a while studying in the local school school, he left his education due to poverty and helped him in the agricultural work. One day in the hope of earning more than 15 years of age, Narayanganj left the house unaware of the train and joined the train. There, he came in contact with an Englishman in the shipyard and with the help of him, Abdul Jabbar flew to Burma with a job. During his stay in Burma, he acquired English language. After twelve years he returned home. In 1952, he came to Dhaka with his wife for treatment for her mother-in-law. The 20-year-old mother-in-law was admitted to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Abdul Jabbar Medical School (student barracks) went to the house of Harmat Ali (20/8) in Gaffargaon. On February 21, 1952, in the crowded public meeting in the Dhaka Medical College hostel premises demanding state language Bangla. Abdul Jabar joined the rally. When the police fired on the student-crowd, he was shot and killed in Dhaka Medical College Hospital. In February 2000, he was awarded posthumous Ekushey Padak. Currently a museum and a Shaheed Minar were established in his name.
Library and memorial museum was built in 2007 on the side of Private Registry Primary School and Shaheed Minar on Shaheed Jabbar near the house of Shaheed Jabbar in the village of Jabbar Nagar (Pachua), Rauna union under Gofargaon upazila of Mymensingh district. It is a tourist spot in Gofargaon.
